Bhopal, June 1, 2019 (Muslim Saleem): The Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath has asked the authorities concerned to draft a legislation on Right to Water aiming at ensuring adequate water for every person in the urban areas. He said that ownership title of land will be given to the urban houseless and economic assistance would be ensured to help them construct dwelling unit.
While reviewing the future plans of Urban Development Department at Mantralaya today, the Chief Minister said that the ‘Right to Water Act’ will be instrumental in ensuring requisite quantity of water to urban citizenry.
Minister for Urban Development and Housing Shri Jay Vardhan Singh was present.
Shri Kamal Nath said that possibility of expansion should be kept in view while finalizing the master plan to reduce the burden of traffic in urban areas. He said that ring roads around the cities should be planned in such a way as would help reduce burden on traffic.
The Chief Minister directed to draft a policy for Mini Smart Cities. Facilities and arrangements should be clearly mentioned. He asked to develop metropolitan area in Bhopal and Indore.
The Chief Minister also instructed to speed up implementation of metro rail project while giving momentum to smart city projects. He said that the Chief Minister’s Urban Housing Scheme and Chief Minister’s Urban Infrastructure Scheme should focus on future priorities. Shri Nath gave instructions to ensure that maximum number of housing units is constructed for the urban houseless utilizing the new financial model. He also asked for outcome analysis of water supply and sewage projects. He instructed to use latest scientific methods for solid waste management under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Stressing the need for plantation on a massive scale to improve urban environment, the Chief Minister said that plantation strategies should be readied before rainy season. He gave instructions for making database for government land in all the districts so that it could be utilized for housing schemes.
The Chief Minister also asked the officers to use the latest financial model while utilizing funds for urban development schemes.
The Chief Secretary Shri S.R. Mohanty, Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Shri Sanjay Dubey, Commissioner of Urban Administration and Development Mr. Gulshan Bamra and senior officials were present.
