CM Kamal Nath: M.P. To have Ultra High Density Plantation of Mangoes, Oranges

7,000 farmers to have opportunity of doubling income

Bhopal, August 11, 2019 (Muslim Saleem): Madhya Pradesh will witness high density plantation of Mangoes and Oranges on one thousand acres next year and ten thousand acres in coming five years. This will benefit 700 farmers next year and 7000 farmers in coming five years giving them opportunity to double their income.
The Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath held a detailed meeting with representatives of the Coca-Cola Company and Jain Irrigation Company at Mantralaya here today. The plantation strategy was finalized at the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that income of farmers can be doubled by promoting horticulture crops. For this, the potential areas reporting good horticultural crops can be identified and farming can be promoted with the help of private sector.
In collaboration with the state government, the Coca-Cola and Jain Irrigation Company have plans to encourage cultivation of mangoes in Harda, Hoshangabad, Betul, Mandla, Dindori districts and oranges in Agar Malwa, Shajapur and Chhindwara districts.
In the first year, mango and orange will be cultivated on one thousand in the first year and then ten thousand acres in the next five years. This will benefit 700 farmers in the first year and 7000 farmers in five years.
The farmers will be given 500 plants for one acre prepared with tissue culture method. They will also be provided drip irrigation facility. In September-October this year, the horticulture department will take up plantation for demonstration on 25 acres and by January end high density plantation will be done on 1000 acres.
The Coca-Cola Company will set up a food processing unit in Jaraka Jalgaon soon while manufacturing of fruit juice in Babai will start in three years.
The Chief Secretary Shri S.R. Mohanty, Additional Chief Secretary Horticulture Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Shri M. Gopal Reddy, Principal Secretary Industries Shri Rajesh Rajaura and Principal Secretary Agriculture Shri Ajit Kesari, Vice President Coca-Cola Shri Aseem Parekh, Shri Sanjay Bhandari of Jain Irrigation Company attended the meeting.
