Green Ganesh Campaign: Training of over 5 thousand students held

Bhopal, August 23, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): Workshops are being conducted at school and college level by the Environment Planning and Coordination Organisation under the Green Ganesh Campaign. Training from August 13 till date has been given to over 5 thosuand students, teachers and citizens to make Ganesh idols with clay. A programme has been prepared by the EPCO to generate awareness among 10 thosuand families for installation and immersion of Green Ganesh at home itself.
Under the campaign, information is being given by the team formed by the EPCO in respect to make Ganesh idols with clay and to students about ill effects of immersing idols made of POP and chemical colours and its prevention. In the workshop, along with idol making, participants are also being taught to paint idols with natural colours such as turmeric, ramras, geru, khadiya, clay etc. Students are also being informed about Seed Ganesh technique at the time of making Ganesh idols.
Green Ganesh workshops were organized in Government Girls School Tulsi Nagar and Government School Arera Colony (Old Campion) in Bhopal. As many as 400 students participated in the workshops and took resolution for environment conservation. The Executive Engineer Shri Rajesh Raikwar through the power point presentation informed about the aquatic flora and fauna being destroyed due to gathering of the idols layer by layer. The Superintendent Engineer Shri J.P. Namdev informed about the day-to-day damage being caused to water bodies due to increasing population and habitat areas. Master-Trainers Shri D.D. Pawar and Shri Amol Agholia of National Green Corps (NGC) are cooperating continuously in the workshops.
