Prepare action plan and implement it to double the farmers’ income

Governor Shri Tandon holds discussions with Heads of Agriculture and related Departments
Bhopal, September 13, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): The Governor Shri Lalji Tandon held discussions with the Principal Secretaries and Directors of the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Horticulture Departments in connection to double the farmers’ income. He said it is a must to make the farmers self reliant. All the concerned departments should go to the villages for the implementation of integrated schemes of overall development. Acquaint the villagers with direct experience of doubling the farmers’ income. Make a detailed action plan and implement it on ground.
The Governor Shri Tandon said that new knowledge and ideas are effective only when they turn into ground reality. The usefulness of contemplation and statistics lies in their practical implementation. He said that they should select villages and work to double the farmers’ income with new agricultural knowledge. The Animal Husbandry Department should conduct activities like the use of improved Indian breed in Gou-Palan and farming along with goat farming etc. The Fisheries department should hire ponds of the farmers or village ponds and show them the work of fisheries development. Farmers themselves will come forward by becoming aware of the cost, labour and benefits received from it. Shri Tandon said that the NITI Aayog is making effective efforts in this direction.
The Governor Shri Tandon further said that the breed of Indian indigenous cow can be improved in three years. Income equal to 5 acres of farming can be earned from one cow. He informed that by using cow dung and urine in agriculture, farming without any cost is being done. Giving an example of potato production from organic farming, he said that when farmers see the success of the experiment in their village, they will be ready to adopt it at their own will.

The Governor was apprised of by the officers of the Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Horticulture Departments that an action plan regarding doubling the farmers’ income through departmental activities will be presented to him soon.
