Solar Geyser Plants to be installed in Special Backward Tribal Hostels

Bhopal, September 19, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): Solar geyser plants will be installed in 1008 hostels and ashram schools this year in 15 special backward tribal-dominated districts of the state. A provision of Rs. 26 crore has been made in the budget of Tribal Welfare Department for this work. There are 56 junior hostels, 531 senior hostels, 39 collegiate hostels and 382 ashram schools in these areas. Housing Allowance to tribal students Housing allowance is being provided to scheduled tribe students, who were not able to get accommodation in hostels in the state. As many as 65 thousand 304 students in the year 2017-18 and 28 thousand 470 students in 2018-19 were benefitted from this scheme. Under the scheme, tribal students are being given housing allowance of Rs. 2 thousand for the divisional headquarters, Rs. One thousand 250 for the district headquarters and Rs. One thousand per month for block or tehsil headquarters. Satellite Education Scheme In order to increase the quality of education in remote tribal areas of the state, modern technology is being used in studies and teaching. This effort has also improved the education level of tribal students. A satellite interactive terminal (SIT) center has been set up in 50 educational institutions of tribal areas. Direct education and training is being provided in these centers by subject experts through satellite. Action is being taken to merge the scheme with the Virtual Class Room of NIC this year.
