Producer Prerna Arora of Padman, Rustom fame out of jail after 8 months

Mumbai: Producer Prerna Arora of Padman, Rustom fame has been released from jail after 8 months.
Producer Prerna Arora who runs the production house KriArj entertainment has been reportedly arrested by the Economic Offences Wing for her alleged involvement in a fraud of Rs.16 crore. Her production house has produced famous films such as ‘Rustom’, ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’, ‘PadMan’ and ‘Pari.’ The producer has been involved in a number of cases which has courted controversies.
A company called Padma Ispat had accused Prerna Arora’s KriArj entertainment of a monetary fraud amounting to a whopping Rs. 50 crores. Recently, Arora had a spat with ‘Kedarnath’ director and producer Abhishek Kapoor.
Prerna had accused the director of excessive wastage of resources during the shooting of the film. However, Kapoor countered the claim by levelling an allegation of non-payment of dues against her. After their fallout, Ronnie Screwvala took over the film.
Apart from this, actor John Abraham’s JA Entertainment dragged Prerna’s company to court on three criminal charges including cheating, breach of trust, defamation, and offenses committed under the IT act. Arora was co-producing John Abraham starrer ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’. However, later John terminated its contract with Kriarj entertainment.
