Development of handicrafts and handloom sector challenging in changing era of globalization

Bhopal, October 10, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): Governor Shri Lalji Tandon has said that it is challenging to work for the development of handicrafts and handloom sector in the fast changing era of globalization. He said that by developing India’s ancient handicrafts and handloom system, we can create more and more employment opportunities. The Governor was addressing the three-tier Panchayati Raj training programme organized by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences at Hindi Bhavan today.
Governor Shri Tandon said that the Panchayat Raj system has always been the axis of rural development. The handicrafts and handlooms of our country have been recognized worldwide, but mechanization era in the last few years have influenced the development of these arts. In the ancient times, through these arts more people used to get employment opportunities in their village itself. The Governor said that constant efforts are also necessary for the propsperity of tribal culture of the country.
Vice Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences Professor. Asha Shukla said that the University is constantly working on the dreams and ideals of Dr. Ambedkar. She said that arrangement has been made to impart training to Panchayat representatives to create maximum employment opportunities in rural areas. The University is also running awareness programmes for the development of handicrafts and handloom. Professor Shukla informed that training will be imparted to artisans and Panchayat representatives of Raisen, Sehore and Bhopal district in the training programme. She said that the University has adopted 12 villages near Mhow where public awareness campaign has been launched for social development of these villages.
