Solar parks of 1500 MW to be established in Agar, Shajapur and Neemuch

Agreement signed between new and renewable energy department and IFC

Rewa ultra mega solar plant to commence production from this month

Bhopal, May 2, 2018 (Ataullah Faizan):  The state government has already made preparations to set up Solar Parks in Shajapur, Agar and Neemuch after the successful establishment of Rewa Solar Project, the biggest solar power project of the country. A Financial Advisory Services Agreement has been signed in this connection between the New and Renewable Energy Department and International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank today. The Principal Secretary New and Renewable Energy on behalf of the department and Regional Manager of the Asia Pacific Ms. Isabell Chatterton on behalf of the IFC signed the agreement in the presence of Minister for New and Renewable Energy Mr. Narayan Singh Kushwaha. The Shajapur Solar Park will have 500 M.W.capacity, whereas Agar and Neemuch Solar Parks will have 550 and 450 M.W. capacity. The Rewa Solar project of Madhya Pradesh, one of the biggest solar power projects of the World has been presented by the Union Government as the model before other states. The project has also been awarded with the World Bank President Award. Production in this project will commence from this month itself. The IFC has also contributed in 750 M.W. Rewa Project the last year. The Rewa project has been appreciated worldwide for adopting innovative and robust project structuring practices and for setting the lowest tariff record.

Work to set up solar parks of 2000 M.W. capacity is under progress in the state to achieve the target of 100 G.W. capacity till 2022 of the Prime Minister under the Paris agreement. For the 1500 M.W. solar park, 89 percent land has been procured. Loan has been received from the World Bank for infrastructure development. Moreover, consent has been given by the Power Distribution Companies of Madhya Pradesh and Indian Railways for purchase of power. Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Mr. Vijendra Singh Sisodiya, Principal Secretary Energy Mr. I.C.P. Keshri, Managing Director of Power Transmission Company Mr. Sanjay Shukla,  Managing Director of Madhya Kshetra Power Distribution Company Mr. Sanjay Goyal and Senior Officers of the department were also present on the occasion. Officers of Sri Lanka and IFC were also participated in the programme.
