 Bhopal, May 10, 2018 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):  Urban Development and Housing Minister Mrs. Maya Singh said that citizens will also become smart with the extension of smart facilities in cities selected in smart city. She said that works worth nearly Rs 2.5 crore have been approved for extension of facilities in seven smart cities in Madhya Pradesh and works worth more than Rs 2 thousand crores are in progress. She said this on the occasion of the conclusion of the two-day Shikhar Sammelan of the country’s Smart City Chief Executive Officers. Minister Mrs. Singh said that under the concept of smart city, the process of smart thinking and working on all issues including road, water, electricity, traffic, employment etc. began in selected cities. This process will work as a model for other cities of the country. She said that the basic structure of smart city is being prepared in such a manner that once the facilities are extended, then it will continue to run on public participation. Mrs. Maya Singh said that serious thought would be given to suggestions obtained at the Shikhar Sammelan organized in Bhopal. She congratulated the smart city team for the successful launch of the integrated command control centre and incubation centre under the Smart City Project in Bhopal.

Principal Secretary Mr. Vivek Agarwal said that it is essential to develop PPP mode and Public Bond System for the successful implementation of the smart city project. Only then will the facilities work in a better manner in future. Presentations were given on the occasion by various smart cities including Daman & Diu that has developed solar project, Smart Light Pole and Smart Public Bike Sharing developed by Bhopal and Public Bond System by Pune. Arrangement of funds for the smart city project was discussed in detail in the concluding session. Secretary Ministry of Urban Development Government of India Mr. Durgashankar Mishra including other officers and representatives of various states were present on the occasion.
