Bhopal, June 25, 2018 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):  Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has said that India will be clean as per the goals of the countrymen. We have taken the resolution to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a Clean India. He said that we will have to change our thinking before changing people, society and the country. The country has brought a change in the thinking about hygiene. There will be no family in the country without a house of its own in year 2022. More than two crore houses will be built in the country in the next three to four years. In the last four years, 1 crore 15 lakh houses have been constructed in the country. Prime Minister Mr. Modi was addressing the Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Mahotsav and Sanitation Survey Award ceremony in Indore today. Prime Minister Mr. Modi e-dedicated urban development projects worth about Rs. 4 thousand 700 crores and inaugurated the Urban Transport Scheme ‘Sutra Seva’ of Madhya Pradesh government. Mr. Modi performed e-griha pravesh for more than one lakh beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme.

The Prime Minister said that cleanliness does not come in a day. Rather, it is achieved only when all the citizens work round the clock for it. Madhya Pradesh has achieved this pride with its ‘Parakram’ and ‘Purusharth’. Two cities Indore and Bhopal are the first and second clean cities of the country. The story of Indore’s success is an example of the people’s vitality, cooperation and affection for the city. The whole country is taking inspiration from this. Devi Ahilya Bai gave priority to the minutest needs of the public during her rule. Indore has paid the true tribute to Devi Ahilya Bai by working for cleanliness and fulfilling its responsibilities.

He said that in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, 2300 cities of 18 states of the country have declared themselves free from open defecation. Over the last four years, 8 crore 30 thousand toilets have been constructed in the country, in which 65 lakh toilets have been built in Madhya Pradesh alone. All the cities of Madhya Pradesh have declared themselves open defecation free. Mr. Modi said that the village is the soul of the country, while the city is the centre of energy. The previous central government did not pay attention to the cities, which increased the population but facilities did not increase. In the last four years, the government sanctioned Rs 2 lakh 30 thousand crore for urban development whereas in the past ten years, only Rs. 95 thousand crore was sanctioned by the previous central government.
