MoS Mr. Sarang takes stock of water-logging in lower slum areas

Bhopal, July 18, 2018 (Ataullah Faizan):  Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Cooperatives, Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Vishwas Sarang, today visited the lower settlements in view of the rains since this morning and took stock of water logging. Mr. Sarang visited all such settlements of Padmanabha Nagar, Old Subhash Nagar, Mahamai Ka Bagh, Chanakyapuri, Santoshi Mata Mandir, Navin Nagar, Aishbagh and Dwarka Nagar, where there is a problem of water logging during the rains. Mr. Sarang inspected the bend of iron angles and plates made to provide a prompt solution for redressal of the problem of back water entering the slums near the culvert on the Mahamai ke Bagh drain by diverting the back water. Citizens informed that in the rains that occurred today, back water floods the slums. By putting the bend, the back water from the drain could not come into the settlement. Minister of State Mr. Sarang had himself got the bend designed and got it installed near the culvert. Mr. Sarang spoke to the engineer about the waterlogging on the roads due to overflow in Chanakyapuri. He tried to understand the situation of overflow by inspecting the direction of water flow during the rain at Santoshi Mata temple, Chanakyapuri and Navin Nagar. Mr. Sarang said that the overflow of water is from the drains due to heavy rains.

He instructed a team from Municipal Corporation to the clean the chamber of the drain near Navin Nagar following water logging. He said that the situation did not turn serious despite heavy rains as the drains had been constructed and properly channelized. Mr. Sarang also expressed his displeasure over non-monitoring of the drains under construction by the Sub-Engineer and Assistant Engineer of the Municipal Corporation after inspection of the drains constructed in Dwarka Nagar. He said that the Commissioner Municipal Corporation has been asked to give notice to the negligent officers.
