Exit poll and any kind of its publicity banned

Ban to remain in place from November 12 to December 7, 2018

Bhopal, November 12, 2018 (Ataullah Faizan):  The Election Commission of India exercising its power given under the Representation of the People Act, 1951 has imposed ban on any kind of exit polls, publication by the print and electronic media of its result, publicity and its broadcast in any manner from 7.00 a.m. of November 12, 2018 to 5.30 p.m. of December 7, 2018 in connection to the general election in assembly constituencies of 5 states. Moreover, the Election Commission of India in connection to the above mentioned general election has banned any kind of opinion poll in electronic media and results by any other kind of voting survey during the completion of 48 hours, the time fixed for the end of election of each phase and any kind of exhibition of matter related to voting. It may be mentioned that the Election Commission of India had announced general elections for Vidhan Sabha of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Telangana by its press note on October 6, 2018.
