Night bus service to be started in State: Transport Minister Shri Rajput

Bhopal : February 4, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): Minister for Transport Shri Govind Singh Rajput has said that uniforms for passengers’ bus drivers and conductors will be made essential. All neccessary arrangements will be made for constructions of buildings for the regional transport offices, night bus service to be introduced and rural transport facility will be encouraged in the state. Moreover, a solution will be drawn in the interest of passengers by establishing coordination between private bus operators and sootra seva operators in the state.

Shri Rajput further mentioned that efforts will be made to integrate Red Bus, Ola and Uber etc. on one platform by preparing a new app and by introducing GPS based automatic vehicle location system in the interest of common people so that monitoring of vehicles could be made from the control room. Initiative to to be taken to include a chapter on transport safety in school curriculum. This was informed by Shri Rajput at the joint meeting of the officers of the Transport Department and Bus Operators held at the Academy of Administration.

Moreover, Shri Rajput stated that neccessary improvement will be made in the present system to facilitate citizens with better transport facilities in the state. He informed that a process to bring reforms has already been begun. Initiative to hold discussions with the private bus operators is also an important link in this direction. He said that he has come to know about the real problems of the operators during the interaction with them in today’s meeting. There are different problems of all the categories. Keeping in mind the problems of common man, neccessary amendmends will also be made in the transport policy. The Minister mentioned that steps will be taken soon in the direction to make neccessary public transport management in proportion to the population in our large state.

Deliberations on works of Inter-City Transport Authority, strengthening transport administration, improvement in arrangement of fitness certificate of vehicles, to bring down road accidents, establishment of centers at all the district headquarters for conducting pollution test, construction of bus stands in cities with more than one lakh population, to ply Volvo buses on new routes, increase in route of non-stop service, safety of school buses/vehicles and their checking took place in the meeting. The Minister Shri Rajput instructed the officers of the department to be serious in following the manifesto and to provide neccessary facilities to the citizens.

At the outset, the bus operators appreciated the Transport Minister for holding meeting with them. Those who were present at the meeting include Shri Vimal Gupta of Gwalior, Shri Virendra Bais of Dewas, Shri Shameem Khan of Betul, Shri Sanjay Sharma of Jabalpur, Shri Surendra Mishra of Chanderi, Shri Mohammad Imran of Ujjain, Shri Sanjeev Jain of Seoni, Shri Prakash Jain of Jhabua, Shri Brijmohan Rathi of Bhopal and others. The Transport Commissioner Dr. Shailendra Shrivastava and other officers were also present at the meeting.
