Bhopal civil body hit by fund crunch, development works affected

Bhopal, March 17, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): In the city the project such as sewage and the development of parks, may take a break in the next few months. This is because delay providing aid from the state government to the municipal corporation. The Corporation has to get Rs 338 crores from the state government, in addition to the Stamp Duty, octroi compensation and Project Amrit. The corporation has to receive Rs 90 crore of stamp duty. This amount has not been received since two financial years i.e. 2016-17 and 2017-18. 28 crores of octroi compensation is owed. This amount of tax relief is spent on the salary of the employee. But despite not getting this amount, the corporation paid salaries to 13 thousand employees from its source.
The result was that the payment of works done under Swachh Bharat Mission and CM Infra got stuck. Under the Project Amrit, the municipal corporation has so far received only 220 crore rupees. The corporation has to meet a total of Rs 220 crore in four installments. Now the next installment of 220 crores is waiting for the officers. State solicitor, SS Solanki of Municipal Corporation Nagarpalika Sangh Sangh, points out that this is the situation in the entire state.
