Intensive plantation in urban areas, Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan reviews
Bhopal, July 11, 2015 (Muslim Saleem): This year, 8.64 crore saplings will be planted during Hariyali Mahotsav in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed preparations for the event at Mantralaya here today. Directing for large scale plantation in urban areas, the Chief Minister instructed to carry out this campaign on greater scale in areas under municipal corporations, municipalities and Nagar Panchayats. He said that plantation is a community activity. Maximum number of people should participate in it. He directed departments linked with Hariyali Mahotsav to associate maximum number of people with the campaign. He also directed to involve road construction companies and contractors in Mahotsav for planting saplings on roadsides. The meeting was informed that 8 crore saplings were planted last year of which 80 percent have survived on an average. Greenery is returning to districts like Barwani and Jhabua. An action plan is being chalked for developing forests near cities. Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar, Chief Secretary Mr. Anthony de Sa, ACS Rural Development Smt. Aruna Sharma, Principal Secretary Forests Mr. A.P. Shrivastava, Secretary to CM Mr. Vivek Agrawal and other senior officers attended the meeting.
