Bhopal, August 18, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan): Target for sale of Vindhya Valley products in Madhya Pradesh has been increased from Rs. 2 crore 54 lakh to Rs.51 crore this year. The state has 51 Vindhya Valley product centres, which would be increased to 99. Through Vindhya Valley Project, concrete efforts for economic empowerment of people is being made by providing employment constantly in rural areas. Till date, 828 self-help groups are functioning under the project. These would be increased to 928 during current year and 978 during year 2016-17. Number of beneficiaries under Vindhya Valley would also be increased from 4000 to 5000. At present, number of Vindhya Valley products is 36 which would be increased to 45 and then to 51 during current year. Launching of Chyawanprash, Aonla Murabba, Tulsi Cyrup and Vindhya Valley products made of tomato, chilli, flowers etc is also being made. Principal Secretary Horticulture Mr. Praveer Krishna informed that along with products, marketing of Project Vindhya Valley is also being promoted. Under it, the products will also be linked to online shopping along with retail sale. Number of wholesalers and retailers will also be increased. He informed that objective of Vindhya Valley Yojana is to develop Vindhya Valley Brand, make available market to rural producers and provide fair prices to them.
The project provides employment continuously. Rural products’ value-addition, quality control, attractive packaging and standardization facilities are also being provided. Tourism Development Corporation is using Vindhya Valley mineral water and spices. Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to use Vindhya Valley water and other products in departments and public programmes.
