Foundation of working women’s hostel laid

lead26.8Bhopal, August 26, 2015 (Muslim Saleem):  Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that women’s empowerment is state government’s mission. Madhya Pradesh will be made ideal state in respect of women’s empowerment in the country. He said that a convention of women’s self-help group will be convened shortly. Mr. Chouhan was addressing foundation laying ceremony of working women’s hostel costing Rs. 6 crore here today. Extending greetings of Raksha-Bandhan to women, he urged people to provide benefits of insurance schemes as gift to sisters on this festival. He urged women to work towards eradication of malnutrition among children. Describing the hostel as significant for working women, Mr. Chouhan said that more working women’s hostels will be constructed if needed.

Reiterating resolve to implement announcements made at Mahila Panchayat, maximum women’s empowerment works in the country have been made in Madhya Pradesh. In local bodies, women were given 50 percent reservation whereas 56 percent women were elected. He said that women’s empowerment will remain incomplete till reins of administration come in their hands. He directed the Chief Secretary to present proposal to given 33 percent reservation to women in police at the earliest.   Women & Child Development Minister Mrs. Maya Singh said that Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan has placed women’s empowerment on top of his agenda. She informed that after Bhopal, such hostels will be constructed at Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur.

Welcoming state government’s recent decision to provide special child care leave to women employees, she said that it is a gift of the Chief Minister to women. She informed that community leadership programme for women will also be started soon. Commissioner Women’s Empowerment Mrs. Kalpana Shrivastava said that working women’s hostel is a Rakhi gift. He said that state’s women are moving ahead with self-respect and self-reliance. A documentary on women’s empowerment efforts in Madhya Pradesh was also screened. The Chief Minister also planted a sapling.
