Mr. Bhargava inaugurates workshop on innovations in cooperatives

bhargabv3.9Bhopal, September 3, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan):   Cooperatives Minister Mr. Gopal Bhargava has stressed the need to explore new fields in cooperative sector for economic growth and development of the state. Mr. Bhargava was inaugurating two-day workshop on innovations in cooperative sector at Samanvay Bhavan here today. Mr. Bhargava also laid emphasis on amending rules as per requirements to deal with various challenges and problems in cooperative sector. The workshop has been organised by Cooperatives Department in collaboration with Cooperatives Management Institute and Sahakari Vichar Manch.

Principal Secretary Cooperatives Mr. Ajit Kesari stressed the need to streamline management of cooperative institutions. He said that government institutions should bring positive changes in the functioning and be responsive towards members’ interests. Mr. Kesari said that for this, rules should be amended keeping in view citizens’ interests. Mr. Kesari said that success can be achieved in future by learning from mistakes of past.  At the outset, Commissioner Cooperatives Mr. Manish Shrivastava informed that exploring news possibilities for growth of cooperative sector is need of the hour. Along with entry of cooperatives in new sectors, efforts should also be made for constitution of societies and their stability.

He said that this workshop will mainly discuss promotion to cooperatives in tourism, rural transport, skill upgradation, renewal energy, godown construction, housing and service sectors. Group discussions will be held at the workshop to explore possibilities to promote cooperatives in these sectors. Madhya Pradesh Dugdh Mahasangh’s MD Mr. Shobhit Jain informed about success achieved in export of milk products through New Zealand’s cooperative society “Contera”.

President of Sahakari Vichar Manch and former Secretary Cooperatives Mr. V.G. Dharmadhikari stressed the need to make available credit facility to about 65 lakh members of cooperative societies and meet their requirements from time to time. He also called for formulating practical policies in favour of senior citizens. He said that cooperatives should become medium of economic growth as well as social development.
