Bhopal, September 4, 2015 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Asian Development Bank will provide loan assistance worth US $ 150 millions (about Rs. 993 crore) for infrastructure development and improvement of teaching quality in government ITIs in the state. State government’s share will be US $ 90 millions (about Rs. 596 crore). Higher and Technical Education Minister Mr. Umashankar Gupta informed that through these funds maximum number of youths will be trained by designing courses as per industries’ demand. Mr. Gupta informed that under the scheme, Multi-skill Development Centres, Centres for Excellence and ITIs will be strengthened. Main objective of the project is to train unskilled and unemployed youths and women.
Special attention will be paid to tribal areas during the 5-year project. Under the project, ITIs at 10 divisional headquarters will be upgraded to Centres for Excellence and ITIs at 10 district headquarters as Model ITIs. In economically developed areas, 7 new Multi-Skill Development Centres will be opened. Smart classrooms, digital library and multi-media centres will be constructed in Model ITIs. For trainers, 3-month training will be mandatory. Multi-Skill Development Centres will function as skilling hub-cum-production centres.
