GAS to be implemented from state to cluster level
Bhopal, September 21, 2015 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Governance and accountability system (GAS) will be implemented under National Rural livelihoods Mission (NRLM) in all community-based institutions from cluster, development block and district upto state level in Madhya Pradesh. This will help in implementation of all processes as per prescribed norms and accountability can be fixed at all levels of the Mission. A 2-day state level workshop on these arrangements will be held at Regional Rural Development Training Centre here on September 22 and 23. District Project Managers from Dhar, Jhabua, Barwani, Alirajpur, Dindori, Shahdol, Mandla, Anuppur, Raisen, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Guna, Shivpuri, Narsinghpur, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Panna, Sagar and Tikamgarh will participate in it.
CEO of State Rural Livelihoods Mission Mr. L.M. Belwal informed that mission is laying emphasis on ensuring large scale partnership in use of resources and decision making by communities. As a result, local institutions will become more participative, accountable and responsible. Under the mission, financial assistance is provided through various methods to the poor and extremely poor persons.
Under the mission, attention would be paid to make available public services more effectively. Further opportunities will be made available to boost livelihood of these sections. Norms for various services are being prescribed for better governance and accountability. Besides, a permanent system will also be evolved for solving problems. Along with evaluation and monitoring, transparency will also be ensured. Performance management system will also be introduced to promote better performance.
