Adequate arrangements be made for safe storage of nutritious food: Mrs. Baghel


Bhopal, June 7, 2011 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):    There should be proper arrangements for storage of nutritional food materials to be distributed at Anaganwadi Centres. Keeping the transportation problems for distribution upto sector and Angwadi centres in mind, 20 packets should be prepared instead of 40 packets. Minister of State for Woman and Child Development Mrs. Ranjana Baghel was addressing an advisory committee meeting of her Department here at Mantralaya today. MLAs Mr. Ramdayal Ahirwar and Mrs. Geeta Uikey, Principal Secretary Woman and Child Development Mr. B.R. Naidu and Director Mr. Anupam Rajan were present. Mrs. Rajana Baghel said that boxes should be provided to the Angwadi centres for storing food materials safely. She said that the Angwadi centres should be constructed as per the new norms. Mrs. Baghel pointed out that there is no proper arrangements for children to sit at Anganwadi centres. Carpet should be provided at such centres, she instructed and added that the people should be made aware of the activities of Atal Bal Mission.

  The Minister said it should be ensured that at every Aganwadi centres should get nutritionally balanced food materials. New building of Aganwadi centres should be constructed by the Public Works Department and Rural Engineering Services. She said that the groups, which are not working properly under the community kitchen programme should be removed and works be entrusted to other groups. MLA Mr. Ramdayal Ahirwar said that supervisors should monitor schemes properly at Aganwadi centres.

He also suggested for providing nutrition diet in proper quantity to the beneficiaries under take home ration scheme. Mrs. Geeta Uikey suggested to release adequate funds once in a year to maintain hygiene at Aganwadi centres. She said that Aganwadi centres should be provided the facilities of electricity and fans. At the meeting, Mr. B.R. Naidu stressed on the wide publicity of Atal Bal Mission programmes. At the outset, the members and officers were introduced. Mr. Anupam Rajan proposed a vote of thanks. On this occasion, officials of the department were present.
