CM Mr. Chouhan instructs officers to prepare draft

lead7.6.11Bhopal, June 7, 2011 (Muslim Saleem):  The Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given instructions to prepare a draft of state warehousing policy keeping in view increasing foodgrain production in the state. He asked the officers concerned to construct warehouses in wheat producing districts under the decentralized system. A high level committee headed by Agriculture Production Commissioner will take into consideration all aspects and submit a draft policy.  Mr. Chouhan was holding discussions regarding state warehousing policy at Mantralaya here today.

The Chief Minister congratulated the Food department and agencies involved in wheat procurement for making excellent procurement and storage arrangements, ensuring cash payment to the wheat growers. He said that the Government of India would be approached for lifting of procured wheat. Referring to increase in wheat crop output, Mr. Chouhan attributed the increased production to initiatives likes Rs. 100 per quintal bonus, expansion of irrigation facilities. He said that this time 49.4 lakh metric tone wheat has been produced. Keeping in view, increasing irrigation potential, acreage and availability of farm inputs next year 60 lakh metric tone is expected.

It has therefore become urgent to increase warehousing capacity, he added. Those present included State Minister for Food Mr. Paras Jain, Chief Secretary Mr. Avani Vaish, Agriculture Production Commissioner Mr. R. Parshuram, Additional Chief Secretary Industries Shr Satya Prakash, Principal Secretary Food Mr. R. Ramanujam, Principal Secretary Industries Mr. P.K. Das, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. G. P. Singhal, Principal Secretary Agriculture Mr. M.M. Upadhyay and secretary to C.M. Mr. S. K. Mishra were present.
