Satna town hall to be renovated at a cost of Rs. one crore

gaur8.9.11Bhopal, September 8, 2011 (Ataullah Faizan):  Following announcement of Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a sum of Rs. one crore will be provided to Satna Municipal Corporation for renovation of Satna town hall. A drinking water augmentation plan for Satna city worth Rs. 80 crore has been forwarded to the Union Government under UDISMT Scheme. Show cause notices will be issued to municipal commissioner of Satna Mr. Dhirendra Singh Parihar and Rewa municipal commissioner Mr. B.B.S. Gaharwar, for not having complete knowledge about the corporations’ income and expenditure. These decisions were taken at a review meeting of Satna and Rewa municipal corporations, which was chaired by Urban Administration and Development Minister Mr. Babulal Gaur. Satna Mayor Mr. Pushkar Singh Tomar, departmental Principal Secretary Mr. S.P.S. Parihar, Commissioner Mr. Sanjay Shukla etc. were also present at the meeting.

Minister Mr. Gaur said that municipal corporation is fully autonomous local administration. The municipal corporations should make best facilities available to citizens and undertake city’s development by increasing its income. It is the responsibility of the concerning municipal corporations also to undertake last rites of destitute people. He said that municipal commissioners lacking proper and appropriate knowledge about the corporations’ income and expenditure is a matter of grave concern. The Urban Administration Minister said that funds will be made available for beautification of reservoirs in Satna city. He also instructed to install sign boards of works undertaken in the cities.

At the meeting, both the municipal commissioners were instructed to register names of women as heads of families under Janshree Beema Yojna. The meeting was informed that the drinking water augmentation scheme of Satna city worth Rs. 80 crore has been forwarded to the Union Government under UDISMT Scheme. The Satna municipal corporation has increased its income through property tax to Rs. eight crore from Rs. two crore during and last one and half years. Construction of two new Rein Baseras is going on in the city. Ram Roti Yojna is being implemented in an old Rein Basera. Proposal regarding increasing the Satna municipal corporation jurisdiction will be sent to the government. In Rewa city, 248 houses will be constructed under IHSDP Scheme.
