Expansion of airstrip feasible
Team of AAI makes inspection
Bhopal, October 2, 2015 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): On the initiative of Public Relations, Energy, New & Renewable Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Mr. Rajendra Shukla not only Rewa district but entire division will get daily air service facility. For this, a team of officers of Airport Authority of India visited Rewa today and made intensive inspection of airstrip at Chorhata. They also studied prospects of airstrip’s expansion. The team found its expansion feasible after visiting nearby villages and areas. The team comprised Deputy General Manager Mr. Rajiv Hana and General Managers Mr. Malkeet Singh and Mr. Anurag Mishra. The team also inspected area from Chorhata to Agdal as well as its originating point. Additional Collector Mr. Nagendra Mishra informed the team about acquisition of government and private land and the payment of compensation thereof.
It is noteworthy that expansion of the airstrip was proposed for flight, landing and take-off of turbo jets. Total 11.544 hectares of 53 qitas of villages Chorhati, Chorhata, Umri and Adgal are covered by the airstrip. At a special meeting with the 3-member team after spot inspection, District Collector Mr. Rahul Jain informed that required land for the project will be made available.
He said that in coming time, the district will become habitat of tigers due to which number of domestic and foreign tourists will increase considerably. The area has immense tourism scope. Referring to places like Mukundpur, Govindgarh and Bandhavgarh, Mr. Jain said that roads in 5 directions will be constructed in Rewa. Air service is need of the hour here. Besides, Rewa will also become a major centre of solar power.
