Mr. Sartaj Singh administers pledge for least use of plastic
Workshop on ‘Waste-free eco-tourism’ begins at Kerwa
Bhopal, March 6, 2012 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): The ensuing World Environment Day will be observed as “Plastic-free Madhya Pradesh Campaign Year” from June 5, 2012 to June 5, 2013. During the period a campaign will be conducted to keep state’s tourists spots, pilgrimage centres, educational institutions and public places free from waste and plastic. This information was given by Forest Minister Mr. Sartaj Singh at a workshop here today. The workshop on the topic “Waste-free eco-tourism, community-based waste management and ‘plastic-free Madhya Pradesh” was organised by Madhya Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board at Kerwa Dam here today.
The Forest Minister also administered a pledge to those present on the occasion to minimise use of plastic in their daily life. Commissioner Higher Education Mr. V.S. Niranjan, Chief Executive Officer of Madhya Pradesh Eco-Tourism Board Mr. A.K. Bhattacharya, Chief Conservator of Forest, Bhopal Mr. S.S. Rajput, Forest Department officers and a large number of students were present on the occasion. On the occasion, Forest Minister Mr. Sartaj Singh released a poster, which had won first prize in the inter-university competition organised by Madhya Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board. He also distributed prizes among the participants of recent Samardha camp.
