Mowgli ‘mood’ grips Pench sanctuary

Minister Mr. Gyan Singh inaugurates Mowgli Bal Utsav

Bhopal, October 11, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan): Tribal Welfare Minister Mr. Gyan Singh inaugurated 3-day State level Mowgli Bal Utsav at Pench sanctuary in Seoni district today. Mr. Singh flagged off children for Pench national park. Haat Bazaar Mowgli-centric gate, open theatre etc developed at a cost of Rs. 70 lakh under IAP were dedicated at village Turiya. The 289 Mowgli Friends and guide-teachers from all the districts were gripped by fervour and enthusiasm on reaching village Turiya in Pench national park. Mr. Gyan Singh extended greetings of Mowgli Utsav to students. He said that objective of the Utsav is making students aware of wildlife and environmental conservation. Environmental conservation leads to rains, rains to good crops, agriculture to prosperity and prosperity and peace pave way for development. He said that forests are invaluable assets for tribals.

Tribals must educate their children. A number of schemes are being implemented by the state government through which children of tribals are getting educated and becoming higher officers, doctors, engineers etc. MP Mr. Faggan Singh Kulaste said that Mowgli Utsav is a unique event of state where children learn about wildlife, environment and other activities through games amidst nature.

Collector Mr. Bharat Yadav informed that efforts are being made for last years to ensure that children participating in the Utsav also get profuse knowledge as well as entertainment along with knowledge about wildlife, environmental conservation, Mowgli and local culture. He said that this year, along with local schools, students of Ashadeep and Dilkush schools and senior citizens of Old Age Homes have also been included in the Utsav.

Mr. Yadav said that Turiya is also being developed from tourism point of view where tourists can enjoy local cultural heritage at open-air theatre apart from sightseeing in Pench, become aware of clay art of Pachdhar and visit nearby beautiful natural spots. Collector said that entry gate of Haat Bazaar of Turiya has been made Mowgli-centric to give special identity of Mowgli and friends.
