CS reviews wheat storage arrangements of six districts

Industrial shades and government buildings to be used

Bhopal, May 10, 2012 (Ataullah Faizan): Chief Secretary Mr. R. Parasuram held discussions with senior officers here today about initial preparations being made for safe storage of procured wheat in six districts of the state. A decision has been taken for loose storage in the wake of bumper procurement of wheat on support price in these six districts including Hoshangabad, Harda, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen and Dhar. The Chief Secretary held detailed discussions with the senior Principal Secretaries authorised for these six districts. The Chief Secretary said that in view of short supply of gunny bags as per state’s requirements, vacant shades in industrial areas, pucca rostrums on premises of mandis and requisite number of government buildings including schools will be used for storing procured wheat. Today’s meeting discussed use of vacant shades in Mandideep, Govindpura, Pilukheri, Pithampur, Malanpur and other industrial areas. Chief Secretary Mr. Parasuram said that special storage arrangements should be finalised by constituting a technical committee.Additional Chief Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Mr. Antony Desa informed about the number of gunny bags received by the state so far and the number of gunny bags to be supplied next week. He said that requisite amendments should be made immediately in the existing rules for necessary infrastructure for loose storage arrangements. Additional Chief Secretary Commerce and Industries Mr. P.K. Dash informed that he has held discussions with various industrial organisations on storage of wheat. On the occasion, Principal Secretary Public Works Mr. K.K. Singh, Principal Secretary Water Resources Mr. R.S. Julania, Principal Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Mrs. Aruna Sharma and Principal Secretary Cooperatives Mr. P.C. Meena also gave information about the works to be done soon for new storage capacity building.

Chief Engineers also gave suggestions at the meeting. Commissioner Food Mrs. Deepali Rastogi informed that coordination has been established with collectors of concerning districts for storage of wheat without gunny bags. The Principal Secretaries authorised for this work have chalked out initial plan for storage. Managing Directors of Warehousing & Logistics Corporation, Civil Supplies Corporation, MARKFED and other institutions were also present on the occasion.
