Assessment of mineral deposits as per need

State geologists programme board’s meeting

Bhopal, October 16, 2015 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):  State Geologists Programme Board held its 49th meeting here today regarding reconnaissance and exploration of various minerals found in Madhya Pradesh. Presiding over the meeting, Secretary Mineral Resources Mr. Shiv Shekhar Shukla said that it is necessary to assess and certify mineral deposits as per need arising in mining sector. It will promote mineral-based industries in the state. Mr. Shukla also stressed the need for coordination between various institutions of the Central and state governments. The meeting also discussed minerals exploration in year 2014-15 and geological works done during 2015-16. Directorate of Geology and Mining did exploration of minerals in 13 thousand 922 sq km area in various districts.

Drilling upto 5,630 metres was done for limestone, rock phosphate and coal. In Satna district, 15 MT deposits of limestone were assessed. Work to chalk out mineral list of Balaghat district has been completed. Director Geology and Mining Mr. Vineet Austin and Deputy Secretary Mineral Resources Mr. Tarun Rathi also attended the meeting.
