CM undertakes surprise visit to drought-hit villages Pipariya and Amjhar in Jabalpur district
Bhopal, October 26, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan): Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan undertook surprise visit to tribal predominant villages Pipariya and Amjhar in Kundam tahasil of Jabalpur district today. He interacted with farmers and took stock of crops in both the villages. He said that an action plan will be chalked out for income from other sources also along with agriculture for farmers. The Chief Minister also held Chaupal of villagers and farmers at the house of tribal farmer Patiram Jhariya at village Amjhar. Mr. Chouhan sought information about crop loss due to deficient rainfall in and around Amjhar and advised farmers to adopt alternatives sources of income like animal husbandry, milk production and farming of vegetable crops. Mr. Chouhan also sought opinion of farmers regarding it and directed officers to chalk out an action plan for integrated development of Amjhar and provide alternative sources of employment to farmers.
During interaction with farmers, the Chief Minister also discussed available sources of irrigation. On being informed by villagers about depletion of ground water level and need for water, the Chief Minister directed to conduct survey for construction of stop dams and reservoirs in and around Amjhar. Mr. Chouhan assured farmers that they need not worry since the state government is ensuring all possible efforts to deal with drought situation arising out of deficient rainfall. Every possible help will be extended to farmers.
The Chief Minister also sought information about education of girls. Children informed him that they are going to school regularly. The Chief Minister said that they should study with concentration and the government will remove all hurdles in their education. Mr. Chouhan asked whether children are getting free uniforms and text-books. The children replied in affirmative. The Chief Minister also sought information about distribution of food grains from villager at Chaupal at Amjhar. Almost all of them informed that they are getting wheat and rice at Re. one per kg.
