“Religion for human welfare” seminar to conclude at Indore today

Bhopal, October 26, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan):   The 3-day International Seminar on Religion for Human Welfare at Indore started from October 24 will conclude on October 26 in the presence of Founder of Art of Living and spiritual Guru Shri Shri Ravishankar Ji at 1.30 pm. The concluding function will be presided over by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan while Union Culture and Tourism Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma will be the chief guest. Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sange of Central Tibet Administration, Dharmshala and state’s Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Mr. Surendra Patwa will also be present. Representatives of various religions and distinguished scholars are taking part in under the seminar being held under aegis of Culture Department, Sanchi Buddhist and Indic Studies University and Centre for Study of Religion and Society and discussing use of religion for world peace, environment, nature, social justice, knowledge & spiritualism and social justice in the context of their religions and beliefs. Philosophers also presented research papers at the seminar.

As many as 180 scholars and representatives of religions from 29 countries attended the seminar including America, China, South Korea, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, Taiwan, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore etc. Along with main session, 6 sessions were also held daily during the seminar. In them, discussions were made on peace, environment, human glory, diversity i.e. co-existence with followers of all religions, moral and spiritual values like human civilisation and culture and ways to lead a good life. Over 160 research papers were presented role of religious coordination for human welfare, religion for protection of human glory, relevance of moral values in personality development, knowledge of religion as key to world peace, role of Vipashyana in communal harmony, religion is path of development and other subjects.
