New thinking developed in students: Governor

D. Litt conferred to Somalia’s president Mr. Mahmood 

guv1.11.15Bhopal, November 1, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan):  Governor Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav has said that along with higher education reforms in the state, a new thinking has also developed among students and knowledge has got a new direction. Mr. Yadav said that we are feeling proud in honouring President of Somalia. The prestige of our country, state and university due to him is exemplary. He said that Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has launched ‘Rashtriya Uchch Shiksha Abhiyan’ (RUSA). This has helped in providing facilities research and studies to students of universities in the state. The Governor stated this while conferring D. Litt to Somalia’s President Mr. Hasan Shaikh Mahmood at a special convocation at Barkatullah University here today. Somalia’s President Mr. Mahmood said that it is a matter of pride for him that D. Litt has been conferred to him.

He thanked all his teachers, colleagues and people of the state for this much affection and honour. President Mr. Mahmood said that there are good ties between India and Somalia and efforts are on to further cement them. Mr. Mahmood said that his country is strictly against terrorism. He exhorted students to work for human welfare. Higher Education Minister Mr. Umashankar Gupta said that it is a matter of pride and privilege for the state that Somalia’s President who has been conferred D. Litt today had pursued education here.

Mr. Gupta said that India has been world Guru in education sector and hoped that the country will regain this status. Welcoming the guests, Vice Chancellor of Barkatullah university Prof. M.D. Tiwari informed about activities of the university. Officers of Somalia’s embassy and Principal Secretary to Governor Mr. Ajay Tirkey, professors, students and distinguished citizens attended the special convocation.
