14 percent more power supplied on Deepawali than last year

Bhopal, November 13, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan):   In the state, more power was supplied than last year on 3 days during Deepawali this year. Record 20 crore 20 lakh 31 thousand units of power were supplied on Deepawali on November 11 compared to 17 crore 71 lakh 4 thousand units last year. This amounts is increase of 14 percent. The peak power demand on Deepawali was 9 thousand 178 MW against 7901 MW last year. This is increase of 16 percent than last year. Energy Minister Mr. Rajendra Shukla, Principal Secretary Energy Mr. I.C.P. Kesari and Managing Director of MP Power Management Company Mr. Sanjay Kumar Shukla have congratulated all power companies, engineers and employees for ensuring constant power generation and smooth supply during Festival of Lights. Maximum 20 crore 62 lakh 19 thousand units of power were supplied on Narak-Chaudas on November 10, a day before Deepawali compared to 17 crore 99 lakh 23 thousand units last year. This is 15 percent more than last year. Peak hour demand on Narak-Chaudas was 9,582 MW, which is 18 percent more than last year’s power supply of 8,150 MW. On Dhanteras on November 9 this year, 20 crore 63 lakh 65 thousand units of power were supplied.
