W&CD minister greets mothers and newborn girls under Swagatam Laxmi Yojana
Bhopal, December 11, 2015 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Women & Child Development Minister Mrs. Maya Singh has said that the state government is committed to preventing female foeticide and creating equal and respectable atmosphere for girls. Mrs. Singh was greeting mothers and newborn girls under Swagatam Laxmi Yojana at Sultania Hospital here today. Minister Mrs. Singh said that the state government is working constantly for development of women and newborn girls. Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has implemented a number of schemes to assist women and girls in every stage of their lives. Ladli Laxmi, Swagatam Laxmi and Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao are the schemes which enhance respect of women and girls at every level.
She said that due to efforts of the state government, girls birth rate has increased in the state. She stressed the need for further improvements for which active role of society, specially doctors is needed. The Minister greeted 60 newborn girls at Sultania Hospital. She garlanded mothers and presented them fruits, sweets, shawls and coconuts and gift pack to look after newborn girls. Mrs. Singh felicitated Sultania Hospital’s Dr. Vaishali, Dr. Hemlata, Dr. Prachi, Dr. Sona Soni, sanitation worker Gudiya, midwife Yashoda Bai, sweeper Tara Shankar Lal and security personnel Savita Verma and Sapan Namdev for excellent work under Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Yojana.
She also distributed certificates to beneficiaries. The Minister flagged off Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Rath for propagation of the scheme. The vehicle will visit villages and work towards instilling positive thinking among people about girls by contacting families and create a positive atmosphere for this. The vehicle will also carry publicity material pertaining to government schemes to distribute to people.
