Ensure smooth public transport and plying of all buses having permit

Maximum participation in motor vehicle pollution awareness rally

Transport Minister Mr. Bhupendra Singh directs officers

bhup6.1.16Bhopal, January 6, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):  Plying of all buses having permits should be ensured. These directives were given by Transport Minister Mr. Bhupendra Singh at a departmental meeting here today. Principal Secretary Transport Mr. S.N. Mishra and Transport Commissioner Mr. Shailendra Shrivastava were also present on the occasion. Minister Mr. Singh said that arrangements to ply good buses in public transport service on busy roads should be made for convenience of common people. He said that it has been noticed that despite obtaining several permits for a single route, some bus operators do not ply their vehicles on that route.

Due to this, commuters face problems as a result of overloading. This should be curbed immediately. The Minister said that information about issuance of bus permits on every route should be made public and monitored. Information about permits issued for various routes should be displayed at bus stands, newspapers and electronic media. This will reduce plying of small vehicles and vehicle pollution.

Mr. Singh also directed to ensure deployment of 2 drivers in long distance buses. Minister Mr. Singh reviewed preparations for motor vehicle pollution awareness rally to be held in the state on January 10. He said that large scale rallies should be organized at district headquarters under leadership of local public representatives with the assistance of students, voluntary organizations, departments and vehicle operators. It was informed that war-footing preparations are being made for public awareness rally.
