Road safety to be ensured through inter-departmental coordination

Bhopal, January 13, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):   Stress will be laid on inter-departmental coordination to enforce road safety measures. A campaign would also be launched to make people aware about precautions to avoid accidents. This was informed at a meeting chaired by ACS Home Mr. B.P. Singh here. Detailed discussions were held at the meeting on efforts to curb road accidents made till date and future action plan. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed for strict enforcement of road safety rules. ACS Mr. Singh apprised himself of efforts made for road safety by Transport, Home, Excise, Public Relations, Urban Development & Environment, PWD, Panchayats & Rural Development and other concerning departments. The meeting was informed that Transport Department has chalked out a comprehensive plan to train vehicle drivers, which would be imparted in different phases. Besides, Excise and Public Relations departments will educate people about measures and methods to avoid accidents through slides in cinema houses and other publicity mediums. Special publicity campaign will be undertaken in rural and tribal areas. The meeting also discussed removal of advertisement signboards on roadsides which become cause of accident. ACS Mr. Singh directed all departments to finalise action plan and start work. Constitution of State Level Road Safety Training, Research and Development Centre and State Level Traffic Management Committee are proposed for enforcement of new Road Safety Policy.
