lead21.1.16Bhopal, January 21, 2016 (Muslim Saleem):   Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to launch a special drive to provide benefits to the urban poor under various beneficiary-oriented schemes from April 14 to September 25 to mark 125h birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and birth centenary year of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay. These include beneficiary-oriented schemes, building permission, sanction of various pensions, mutation, house sanction etc. The Chief Minister was reviewing activities of Urban Development and Environment Department here today. Minister of State for Urban Development and Environment Department Mr. Lal Singh Arya and Chief Secretary Mr. Anthony de Sa were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said that urban bodies’ services should be made easier for common people. He said that infrastructure-related works should be undertaken with quality within time-limit. Effective arrangements should be made for urban public transport. A scheme should be chalked out to reduce number of vehicles on urban roads. The Chief Minister directed to make Madhya Pradesh ideal state in construction of houses for urban poor under Houses for All Scheme. State should be made pioneer in implementation of AMRUT. Small cities should also be developed in accordance with concept of Smart City. Better sanitation arrangements should be made in cities. He directed to complete works within time-limit under CM’s Urban Drinking Water Scheme and CM’s Infrastructure Development Scheme.

Job-oriented training should be imparted to poor beneficiaries under National Urban Livelihoods Mission. For this, training programmes should be chalked out in accordance with specific needs of every city. Work to regularize illegal colonies should be complete on priority. The meeting was informed that 34 cities of the state have been covered under AMRUT. Under the mission, works of drinking water, sewerage management, rain water flushing, urban public transport and development of green areas will be undertaken. For this, a plan of about Rs. 8 thousand 279 crore has been chalked out. In next 3 years, 6 lakh houses will be constructed for the urban poor in the state.

Central government has selected 7 cities of the state under Smart City programme. In every urban body of the state, modern waste management arrangements will be made during current year. Public transport arrangements will be made in 20 cities of the state under AMRUT. DPRs of Bhopal and Indore metro have been chalked out. Automatic building plan approval system has been implemnted in 14 Municipal Corporations. New policy has been chalked out for lease renewal.
