Strict action against irregularities in cooperatives

Initiate legal action against persons committing irregularities in housing societies

CM Mr. Chouhan reviews activities of cooperatives department

cmcop2.2.16Bhopal, February 2, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):  Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that strict action should be taken to curb irregularities in cooperatives. Arrangements of housing cooperative societies should be made transparent. Strict legal action should be taken against those committing irregularities with members of these societies. The Chief Minister directed this at a review meeting of Cooperatives Department here today. Cooperatives, Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Mr. Gopal Bhargava and Chief Secretary Mr. Anthony de Sa also attended the meeting. The Chief Minister directed to launch a campaign for redressing complaints pertaining to cooperative housing societies. He directed to empower seed producer cooperative societies. Mr. Chouhan directed to reward seed producer cooperative societies for good performance.

It should be ensured that farmers are supplied certified seeds. Physical verification of works done under integrated cooperative development projects should be made. The Chief Minister said that attention should be paid to long-term measures to remove farmers’ indebtedness. Routes for fruits and vegetables should be fixed on cooperative basis. Cooperative banks should pay special attention to recoveries. He directed to chalk out scheme to increase income of shops under public distribution system.

The meeting was informed that Mukhyamantri Sahakari Krishak Rin Sahayata Yojana will be implemented from ensuing Rabi season. As many as 25 Integrated cooperative development projects have been completed in the state and 12 are functioning. Total 52 lakh 11 thousand farmers have been provided Kisan Credit Cards. Loans worth about Rs. 12 thousand crore have been provided to farmers at zero percent interest rate during current year.

Seed producer cooperative societies produced 9 lakh 53 thousand quintal certified seeds last year. A programme is being chalked out to make available ATM facility in cooperative banks.  APC Mr. P.C. Meena, Principal Secretary Cooperatives Mr. Ajit Kesari, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Ashish Upadhyay, Secretary to CM Mr. Vivek Agrawal and Registrar Cooperative Societies Mr. Manish Shrivastava also attended the meeting.
