Citizens helping in criminals’ arrests to be felicitated

Bhopal, February 6, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that courageous people helping in criminals’ arrests will be felicitated on Republic Day. He directed to chalk out a plan to felicitate them at district and state level. The Chief Minister was reviewing activities of Home Department at Mantralaya here today. Home Minister Mr. Babulal Gaur, Chief Secretary Mr. Anthony de Sa, ACS Home Mr. B.P. Singh and DGP Mr. Surendra Sinh attended the meeting. The Chief Minister directed for further sensitisation of Dial-100 Service towards problems of women and tourists.
He was informed that Women’s Helpline 1090 is being linked to Dial-100. Total 12 tourist destinations in the state have been made nodal points of Dial-100. The Chief Minister stressed the need for effective efforts to curb emergence of rackets. He said that such type of criminal activities should be nipped in the bud. He directed to involve Police Housing Corporation in construction of other government buildings. He said that project for their better use should be chalked out after pooling lands available with police and Home Guards.
The Chief Minister sought information about use of Home Gaurds and welfare schemes for them. He directed to give additional salary of 15 days for the force that worked for flood relief. He directed to extend immediate help in cases of murder, injuries and victims of disability. The Chief Minister instructed to recruit police and traffic personnel continuously in phases and make rational provisions in budget for this. The meeting was informed that 800 vehicles operate under Dial-100. In new financial year, 200 more vehicles will be included in its fleet. As many as 1019 police stations and 428 senior offices have been covered under Crime & Criminal Tracking Network and System in the state. This is the first project in the country for sharing criminal records.
During review of preparations for Simhastha, it was informed that 900 police points have been identified in Simhastha Mela area. Along with other police personnel, one local policeman will also be deployed on mandatory basis at all these points. Regular training is being imparted to them. In the state, rate of conviction stood at 59 percent, which is very good in the country.
