Target to construct 5 lakh housing units in MP

State level workshop on Part-II of Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana held

pradhan6.2.16Bhopal, February 6, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):  A state level one-day workshop on Part-II of Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana on ‘ Low-cost houses through credit-related subsidy’ will be held under the aegis of National Housing Bank here today. Principal Secretary Urban Development and Environment Mr. Malay Srivastava urged state’s government institutions, private developers and fiscal institutions to cooperate in the process of providing residential units to the urban poor in all urban bodies.

He said that loans should be provided to beneficiaries reposing trust in them and the scheme must be publicized upto maximum. Commissioner-cum-Secretary Mr. Vivek Agrawal informed that the state government has set a target in its Vision Document to construct 5 lakh housing units. Mixed housing units will be constructed for low income group and economically weaker section.

Mr. Agrawal informed that a sum of about Rs. 50 thousand crore is proposed by Central and state governments and other national and international financial institutions for infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh during next 3 to 5 years. He said that Madhya Pradesh will be a pioneer investment destination in coming years. Mission Director Additional Commissioner Mrs. Priyanka Das said that so far one lakh beneficiaries in 36 cities have been identified under the scheme. Financial institutions will have important role in its success by providing loans to beneficiaries.

Police Housing Board’s ADG Mr. Sanjay Rana said that 20 thousand housing units have been constructed for police personnel of low income group and economically weaker section at Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior. MD of National Housing Bank Mr. Shri Kalyan Raman informed that the bank and HUDCO have been appointed as Central Nodal Agencies by Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Ministry. Agency will provide loan subsidy to financial institutions within 30 days. The bank will provide loans at concessional rate of 6.12 percent to all construction agencies for construction of houses and infrastructure development.
