Workshop on disaster management
Bhopal, February 7, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Under the guidance of DG Civil Security and Disaster Management Mr. Maithilisharan Gupta, a one-day workshop was held at Disaster Management Institute here today. Various district collectors, SPs and district officers participated in it. At the workshop, information about role of collectors in civil defence pertaining to contingent situations and prevention was given. Mr. Gupta informed that loss of life, livestock and property can be prevented through assistance of local people at site of disaster. The state government has declared all districts in the state as civil defence districts.
Emergency operation centres have been set up in districts. State command centre has been established at state level for effectively dealing with disasters. Its toll-free number is 1079. An empowered state disaster command and response monitoring centre has been set up at State disaster commander centre. In future, civil defence volunteers, necessary resources and equipments will be sent to disaster sites from this centre in very short time. Through training, civil defence volunteers are acquiring knowledge about search & rescue, crowd control etc. Functioning of mobile app developed by Home Guards was also displayed at the workshop.
