Crime branch nabs man posing himself as IB officer

Bhopal, February 20, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): A man, who posed himself as Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer, has been arrested by Bhopal Crime Branch from Lucknow in connection with a duping complaint on pretext of facilitating them in getting job. According to Crime Branch, earlier, a complainant Brajesh Pandey lodged a complaint that he advertised for his car on online app OLX for attaching his vehicle on rent with any Government office. On the next day, a person named Arjun Bharti contacted him over phone and posed himself as IB officer. The accused Arjun told Brajesh that he is looking after the work of attaching vehicles for Intelligence Bureau Department. Later, they both met and Arjun showed Brajesh an identity card in which he posed himself as IB officer. Following the vehicle agreement, the victim handed over his car to Arjun. After one month, when Brajesh inquired about the vehicle’s fare of Rs 35,000, the accused avoided him for more than two weeks. However, when the victim started mounting pressure on the accused, then he lured Brajesh by facilitating him job in IB Department for which the Brajesh agreed and paid him Rs 90,000. The accused duped several relatives of the complainant in similar fashion. Subsequently, getting suspicious on the accused, when Brajesh inquired about him, he came to know about the fact that accused was not an IB officer and was a Christian and hailed from Lucknow. The wife of the accused had left him and was residing in Ratlam.

Realising the fact that he has been duped, the victim Brajesh reported the matter with Bhopal Crime Branch, after which, a police team was constituted, which arrested the accused from Maheelabad in Lucknow. Following the arrest of accused, SP (South) Anshuman Singh has declared a cash reward of Rs 5,000 to the police team for nabbing the accused. Subsequently, the detained accused was presented in the court from where he was taken on police remand.
