Farmers turn up in record numbers for Modi’s programme

Bhopal, February 20, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):  LAKHS of farmers reached Sherpur in Sehore district to attend BJP’s Kisan Mahasammelan on Thursday. The approaching road towards the venue site was packed with people. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the venue, people started to chant “Modi Modi”. Addressing the function, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “Kisan Mitra”. Now Modi Modi does not happen only in the country, but in the entire world,” claimed Chouhan. Apart from this, Chouhan highlighted the progress made by the State under the BJP rule. Taking a dig at the previous Congress regime, he said that earlier, power used to be a big problem and darkness was not uncommon during nights. But now, things have changed drastically and State has become self-reliant in power sector. Likewise, hefty interest was taken on loan given to farmers during Congress regime. But after coming of his Government, interest on loan was reduced subsequently and now, farmers are getting zero percent loan. Now 85 percent subsidy would be given to the farmers on the installation of solar pumps. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that, it is a matter of pride that function had been organised in her Lok Sabha constituency. She said that in the first Cabinet, Prime Minister had emphasised on progress of poor and welfare of farmers. He had, at that time, told that focus will be on the point that cost of agriculture of farmers be less and production increase. Apart from this, he had also stressed on organic farming.

“PM was also worried that, if there is natural calamity, ten farmers should not get disappointed. Hence, he vouched for better crop insurance scheme,” she claimed. She also informed that, Sehore Collector had prepared the draft of PM Irrigation Scheme and if she gets the chance, then she will brief PM about it. Praising the PM Crop Insurance Scheme, Swaraj said that no farmer will be disappointed and think about leaving agriculture. Panchayat Minister Gopal Bhargava told that now, farmers didn’t need to worry as new PM Crop Insurance Scheme is coming. Taking potshots at the Congress, he said that during Congress regime, loans were given to capitalists, not to farmers. But now, Madhya Pradesh is the pioneering state, where zero percent loans given to farmers.
