Narmada water arrives in Bhopal after 20 years sustained efforts

Minister Mr. Gaur dedicates overhead tank at Rohit Nagar

gaur23.2.16Bhopal, February 23, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):  Home and Jails Minister Mr. Babulal Gaur has said that it has taken 20 years’ sustained efforts to bring Narmada water to Bhopal. Mr. Gaur dedicated an overhead tank at Rohit Nagar here today. Mr. Gaur said that when drinking water was supplied from the Upper Lake, he had relocated 6000 slums and about 40 thousand population from its banks to save the lake from pollution. He said that while in opposition, he had always urged the then state government for Narmada water and when his party came into power, it realised this dream. Mr. Gaur described Bhopal as ideal city from point of view of topography, nature and connectivity. He said that in view of these qualities, he has given a letter to the Prime Minister recently to make Bhopal sub-capital of India. Former Mayor Mrs. Krishna Gaur said that while holding office of Mayor, she planned to ensure that every area of the city gets Narmada water. Overhead tank at Rohit Nagar was constructed at a cost of Rs. one crore 40 lakh and narmada water distribution in the area with last phase scheme. MIC Member Mr. Kewal Mishra, corporators Mrs. Archana Parmar, Mrs. Rashmi Dwivedi, Mrs. Seema Yadav, Mrs. Chandramukhi Yadav, Mr. Sunder Singh and Mr. Rajaram Gujarati were present on the occasion.
