“Anugoonj-3” at Ujjain begins with Pandvani singing of Teejan Bai
Bhopal, February 25, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Department of Culture is holding Anugoong-3 at Ujjain to create cultural and creative atmosphere in the context of Simhastha Kumbh. The programme got underway on Tuesday with performance of Pandvani singer Padma Bhushan Teejan Bai. At the colourful programme under milky lights on Ramghat on the banks of Holy River Kshipra, Teejan Bai presented various episodes of the Mahabharat in Pandvani singing form.
Those accompanied her included Ragi singer Ramchandra Vishad, Teerendra Kumar Yadu on harmonium, Kewal Deshmukh on tabla, Deleshwar Nirmalkar on dholak, Narottam Netam on banjo and Manharan Sarwane on dhafli. Chief guest MLA Dr. Mohan Yadav also released a CD containing invitation to Simhastha through folk-bhajans rendered by eminent folk singer Miss Sanjo Bai.
The CD contains 13 folk songs highlighting significance of Simhastha. At Anugoonj-3, artistes selected during talent hunt scheme are also performing. Young artistes are giving performances of classical music, light music, folk songs etc. During Anugoonj-3, 1500 young artistes will perform. Under talent hunt scheme, activities pertaining to painting and literature will also be held.
