Van Bandhu Kalyan and tribals’ special schemes to be monitored

High level committee headed by CS formed

Bhopal, March 3, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):   Chief Secretary Mr. Anthony de Sa will head a high level coordination committee to monitor Van Bandhu Kalyan and tribals’ special schemes. Its members include ACS School Education and Water Resources, Principal Secretaries PWD, Finance, Technical Education, Commerce, Industries & Employment, Cottage and Village Industries, Farmers Welfare & Agriculture Development, Public Health and Family Welfare, Tribal Welfare, PHED, Women and Child Development and Energy departments, Secretary Social Justice and Disabled Welfare. Director Tribal Regional Development has been appointed Member-Secretary of the committee. Senior most officers will serve as members of the committee. In addition to these departments, the committee may also invite administrative heads of other departments as well, if needed.

The committee will coordinate with all departments and undertake monitoring of development works being done with convergence of various schemes. Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana on the pattern of Gujarat has been implemented in entire country for integrated development of tribals.  The scheme covers works for economic development in tribal areas, health for all, housing, clean drinking water, irrigation facilities, all-weahter roads to connect tribal areas with major cities, electrification as far as possible, urban development, sports promotion in tribal areas, preservation and promotion of tribal culture and heritage, empowered institutional system and security works. Directives have been given for ensuring all-round development of tribals through convergence of already existing schemes of the state and Central governments and resources of critical group.
