LED bulb distribution scheme in state from March 12

Bhopal, March 10, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):  Scheme to distribute LED bulbs to state’s people on subsidised rates for electricity conservation would be launched on March 12. Process to distribute 3 crore LED bulbs of 9 Watt will be launched by Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy (independent charge) Mr. Piyush Goyal at Ravindra Bhavan here on March 12 at 11 am. New and Renewable Energy Minister Mr. Rajendra Shukla will preside over the function. Home Minister Mr. Babulal Gaur, Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Mr. Gopal Bhargava, Higher & Technical Education Minister Mr. Umashankar Gupta, MP Mr. Alok Sanjar, Mayor Mr. Alok Sharma and MLAs will also be present.  Energy Department has introduced energy efficiency incentive scheme. Under it, any domestic, commercial, industrial, government and semi-government consumer can buy energy-efficient LED bulb at the rate of Rs. 85. Power distribution companies will provide their consumers LED bulbs costing Rs. 90 in 6 equal installments. Maximum 4 LED bulbs per consumer will be provided on producing identity card or electricity bill. Life of LED bulb will be minimum 25000 hours with 3 years’ replacement warranty.

These bulbs are of high quality and highly energy-efficient. They will save 91 percent electricity.  Distribution of LED bulbs will be made by setting up counters down to village level in the state. Bulbs will be distributed through all offices of power distribution companies, post offices and about 300 private alternative energy shops in the state. Alternative energy shops and other distribution agencies will be given incentive at the rate of Rs. 5.37 on every bulb.
