Leopard rescued from 25 feet deep well near Rehti

leopard13.3.16Bhopal, March 13, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):  A rescue team from Van Vihar, Bhopal safely rescued a leopard that had fallen in about 25 feet deep well near village Baniya, 20 kilometres from Rehti in Sehore district last night. About 2000 people saw the rescue operation conducted from 5 am to 3 pm today. Under such circumstance, it was difficult to save crowd and leopard from each other.  Praising swift action of departmental staff, Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar has lauded efforts of PCCF Wildlife Mr. Ravi Shrivastava, CCFs Mr. Atul Jain and Mr. Atul Shrivastava, Dr. Atul Gupta, other departmental officers Mr. Brahma Pratap Singh, Forest Ranger Mr. Gulab Singh Nagar and in-charge of flying squad Mr. Suresh and his team. Forest Ranger Budhni Mr. Gulab Singh Nagar informed at 3 am that a leopard had fallen in a well while chasing a goat. A team of Van Vihar including CCP rushed to the spot. Preparation for rescue operation was started at 5 am after assembling local forest officers/employees. The team started rescue operation from 8.30 am. First, water was pumped out from the well. Seeing number of spectators, it was dangerous to bring out the leopard on a cot. Therefore, it was brought out after tranquilization. The leopard is completely healthy. It would be released into jungle after 24 hours’ observation.
