Animal husbandry, fisheries and sericulture to be promoted in state

CM holds discussions on strategy to double farmers’ income

cm23.3.16Bhopal, March 23, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):  Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that animal husbandry, fisheries and sericulture should be promoted to increase farmers’ income in the state. Farmers should be provided technical guidance and all other necessary assistance. Two model dairies should be developed in private sector in every district. The Chief Minister held discussions in this regard with senior officers at Mantralaya here today. He said that extensive brainstorming should be held to double farmers’ income in next 5 years. Chief Secretary Mr. Anthony de Sa and other senior officers attended the meeting. The Chief Minister said that animal husbandry, poultry sericulture and fish farming are strong sources to increase farmers’ income. In these sectors, world’s best techniques and technologies should be introduced. Milk production is also a good medium to increase income. Better arrangements should be made for improvement of animal breeds, availability of fodder, sale of milk etc. He directed that minimum 2 model dairies should be developed in private sector in every district as this will promote other farmers for animal husbandry.
