HE Minister Mr. Gupta at meeting of All-India mayors’ council
Bhopal, April 7, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): Higher & Technical Education Minister and General Secretary of All India Mayors Council Mr. Umashankar Gupta has called for constitution of Indian Municipal Service (IMS) on the lines of IAS and IPS. He was addressing Council’s meeting in New Delhi today. Mr. Gupta said that term of Mayors should be 5 years uniformly in all states. Union Urban Development Minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said that Smart City, AMRUT Scheme and Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan have been implemented. Every house in 4440 cities of the country will be made pucca by year 2022. Mr. Naidu stressed the need to implement 74th Constitutional Amendment in all states. He said that along with rights, accountability should also be fixed. Council’s Chairman Mr. Vinod Chamoli and Vice Chairman Mr. Ravindra Gupta also spoke on the occasion. Gwalior Mayor and Council’s Vice Chairman Mr. Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar proposed a vote of thanks. Mr. Naidu felicitated Mayors with shawls. Mayors of over 100 Municipal Corporations of various states attended the meeting.
