Effective training must for disaster management

gaur12.4.16Bhopal, April 12, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):  Mr. Gaur laid foundation stone of annexes of Disaster Management Institute’s hostel here today. ACS Home Mr. B.P. Singh and DG Home Guards Mr. Maithilisharan Gupta were also present on the occasion. Mr. Gaur said that disaster management is not requirement of only industries and factories, it is required on other occasions, too. Therefore, trained staff is needed. Referring to Bhopal gas leak tragedy of year 1984, Mr. Gaur said that at that time no one had imagined about gas leak. Had staff been trained to deal with gas leak, loss of lives and its ill effects could have been prevented.

He said that proper safety arrangements would also be made during Simhastha starting this month. Mr. Gaur directed that factories should be checked to ascertain arrangements for disaster management and first aid. Mr. Gaur handed over certificate of emergency response and disaster manager plan to representative of Avantika Gas, Indore. Earlier, he performed Bhumi Poojan for annexe of the hostel. Institute’s ED Mr. Sanjeev Singh said that information is collected and researches undertaken on prevention of natural and industrial disasters, training, awareness programmes at the institute. Mr. Singh presented mementos to the guests. Principal Secretary Home Mrs. Seema Sharma, AIG Disaster Management Mr. K. Baburao and institute’s Director Mr. Rakesh Dube were also present on the occasion.
